«Deutsche Bahn AG, the German railway company, has taken up around 72,000 square metres of office space in Frankfurt’s Silberturm (silver tower) and in the former executive board building of Dresdner Bank AG. The lease contract has now come into legal effect following the approval of the relevant governing bodies. The two properties are centrally located in downtown Frankfurt. The transaction is the largest letting deal in Frankfurt for at least the last 20 years and is likely to be the leading deal of its kind nationwide as well. The owner, Dresdner Bank AG, was advised by the consultants of Atisreal.
The Silberturm (Jürgen Ponto Tower), with its striking aluminium facade, is currently being revitalised. Situated in the vicinity of Frankfurt Central Station, the 32-storey building rises to a height of 166 metres and for several years after its completion in 1978 was Germany’s tallest skyscraper. Once modernisation work to improve the tower’s energy efficiency has been concluded by the end of 2011, energy consumption will be well within the requirements of the German energy-saving ordinance of 2007. The properties are located on Jürgen-Ponto-Platz 1 (Silberturm) and Gallusanlage 8» ( CS della Società Atisreal).
