SEB Asset Management has signed a total of 515 leases for an aggregate amount of roughly 414,000 sqm of space in 18 countries in the first three-quarters of 2012. New leases made up 38 per cent of this figure, while around 62 per cent represents lease extensions. A large proportion of the leases are for space in Germany (187,200 sqm), followed by the USA (46,300 sqm) and the Netherlands (43,800 sqm). This means that new leases and lease renewals have been signed for nearly 14 per cent of the entire property portfolio since the beginning of the year. SEB Asset Management manages a total of more than 3 million sqm of rental space in 21 countries. The focus is on Europe – especially on Germany – and the Asia-Pacific region.
The most recent leasing success is in the Volme Galerie in Hagen: Spiele Max AG is moving into close to 1,000 sqm of retail and storage space at the end of October 2012. The specialist retailer of toys, baby equipment and children’s and baby clothes has signed a lease until the beginning of 2023. Acquired in 2003, the Volme Galerie shopping centre in Hagen’s city centre has a total of approximately 26,000 sqm of space and houses around 60 shops and catering outlets. The Steilmann-Boecker fashion store recently signed a ten-year lease for 2,960 sqm. Other tenants include H&M, Esprit, Deichmann, Galeria Kaufhof, Saturn and Douglas.
