Jury Chair, Brendan O’Reilly said: “ORDA was originally set up by a small number of Outlet industry leaders aware of the need to move, what had started as a small and unknown area of the industry, into the forefront of the marketplace as it had now become a highly credible, constantly expanding and unique retail sector. The introduction of our inaugural awards is a great step in showcasing the best in our industry and we hope to include further award categories in future years."
He adds: "The judges were looking for brands that met the high standards set within the category criteria and who were great examples of how to excel at what they do. All of those short listed as well as the winners all showed the excellence we know exists within the outlet sector and we are delighted to have such a high caliber of winners for our first awards."
JeremyTaylor, Senior Vice President, Polo Ralph Lauren, Factory Outlets Europe, comments; "I’m delighted to discover Polo Ralph Lauren has won the Masters of Visual Merchandising award. As a Brand we strive to convey Mr Lauren’s vision to our customers so they may “live the movie” of a unique lifestyle proposition. Ensuring our European Outlet business fully represents that vision is essential to our success and maintaining a seamless Brand projection. We know our customers enjoy the opportunity to discover the world of Ralph Lauren in this retail environment, across many Brands such as Polo, Blue Label, Lauren and Polo Jeans Co., and so to be recognised by colleagues in the industry is truly rewarding. Thank you."
As a newcomer to the industry OSPREY LONDON were delighted to be nominated for three awards and were the winners of the Best Outlet Chain Newcomer. Graeme Ellisdon, Director, OSPREY LONDON comments: "OSPREY LONDON is honoured and delighted to have won the Best Newcomer category at these prestigious ORDA Awards and would like to thank GVA Grimley for all of their support. Having launched OSPREY LONDON in the outlet sector in October 08 at York Designer Outlet, OSPREY LONDON was determined to integrate the development of this exciting new channel into the growth of the business overall by offering gorgeous branded leathers in a premium store environment with first class service but at an affordable price. Since that date, we have expanded our offer, developed our customer marketing programme, significantly grown our customer database and opened four further stores in the UK.
He adds: “With new product categories and marketing initiatives planned for 2011; three more OSPREY LONDON stores opening shortly and a number of additional key locations in the UK and Europe also within our sights, this is very much just the beginning."
Neil Thompson, Chair of the ICSC Outlet Conference planning committee and Chief Executive Officer, Fashion House Development, said: “ICSC is delighted to host these awards, showcasing the most professional and exciting brands currently operating retail units within outlet centres across Europe.” (CS dell’Associazione)
