"With a record participation of 1,052
companies from 54 countries, the second MIPIM Asia has consolidated
its status as the international market reference for real estate
professionals in the Asia Pacific region.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. John C. Tsang, Financial Secretary of
the Government for the Administrative Region of Hong Kong,
congratulated MIPIM Asia for establishing itself as "a major force
in the dynamic property development and investment sector."
Building on these results, MIPIM Asia will take centre stage once
again in Hong Kong from November 19 to 21 2008. It will be preceded
by a special conference program devoted to Japan, to be held in
Tokyo on 16 and 17 November 2008. As the world’s second largest
economic power, Japan has become a flagship territory for real
estate investors. This conference cycle will identify the challenges
and potential for property investment in the Land of the Rising Sun.
Of the 1,052 companies represented at MIPIM Asia this year (an
increase of 10% over 2006), 76 were from Japan, compared to 30 in
2006. Other countries which sent large delegations included South
Korea, Vietnam, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and China. The
number of leading international investment companies present in Hong
Kong rose from 400 in 2006 to 559 in 2007.
This second edition of MIPIM Asia saw the launch of the MIPIM Asia
Awards. The purpose of these awards is to reward outstanding
construction projects in the Asia Pacific region in seven categories.
The Jury also attributed a Special Prize to one of the seven award
winners. The prestigious Awards ceremony took place on the opening
evening of the market. It was largely dominated by candidates from
Japan and China, who won six awards out of seven. Nikken Sekkei Ltd,
a leading Japanese architecture firm based in Tokyo won in three
categories: 'business centres', 'mixed-use buildings' and 'green
			buildings'.
MIPIM Asia 2007 also featured a series of high standard conferences
and events due to the participation of personalities such as Claude
Smadja, Daniel Libeskind, Paul Chong, Marc Faber and Benoit Famaey.
Following the success of the 20 conferences and workshops organized
around 'investment insights', 'trends & innovations' and 'regional
focus', they will be available as podcasts next week at:
			http://www.mipimasia.com/gb/conferences" (CS della Società).
