With effect from 1 May 2013, Martin Brühl FRICS (44) is taking charge of a newly created International Investment Management department at fund manager Union Investment Real Estate GmbH, Hamburg. Brühl, who has a qualification in banking and a diploma in Property Valuation & Finance, will be responsible for managing the company’s real estate investments in the UK, the Americas and Asia. As a long-standing managing partner at Cushman & Wakefield, Martin Brühl was in charge of the company’s business operations in Germany and from 2007 was part of Cushman & Wakefield’s European management team. Martin Brühl currently holds the honorary office of Global Vice President of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. From 2006 to 2010 he was a member of the Board of Directors at Metzler North America.
With this senior role filled, Union Investment has now completed the restructuring of its investment management activities. Dr. Frank Billand is in charge of the division, which is divided into four areas: Europe, International, Shopping Centres, and Hotels. “Over the coming years, we intend to return to a stronger focus on high yield office and logistics properties outside Europe. We are thus delighted to be able to welcome such an experienced and internationally well-connected expert as Martin Brühl to the team, someone we also know well since many years,” said Dr. Frank Billand.
