Spectacular architecture, state-of-the-art areas and a premium location that is among those in
the highest demand in the world: SEB Asset Management makes use of the move of Daimler
Financial Services to lead the object with its 106 metres high office tower at the Potsdamer Platz
into a successful future. Italian star architect with the objective to adjust the premium object at
Berlin’s top address to highest requirements of efficient multi-tenant solutions.
Barbara A.Knoflach, chairwoman of the board of SEB Asset Management AG: “Our property is one of
Germany’s architecture icons. It is in high demand. After Daimler Financial Services moves out,
the object is to be consistently developed further while retaining the architect’s style and a new
lease for it to be arranged quickly.”
The noticeable building designed by Renzo Piano with its 23-floor office tower and spectacular
glass-roofed atrium at the Potsdamer Platz was completed in 1997. After Daimler Financial
Services moves out at the end of September 2013, the star architect’s philosophy is to redefine
the 30,000 sqm of office areas on one of the premises of its kind in Berlin that are subject to the
highest demand. Renzo Piano is deemed one of the most famous architects in the world. He has
already planned objects like the New York Times Tower in New York or the distinctive The Shard
skyscraper in London.
By the end of 2013, SEB Asset Management wants to present the architecture plans for the
object in the urban centre of Berlin. The building offers its future tenants prime standard at an
international top level. The modernization focuses on the redesign of the areas for efficiency
and equipment for the requirements for use by multiple tenants. On the basis of the alreadyoutstanding
sustainability concept, the property aims to be awarded DGNB Gold status. The
whole area of the Potsdamer Platz is one of the first German quarters completely certified to the
new construction standard DGNB Silber.
SEB Asset Management wants other highly renowned tenants to move into this high-quality
object in its outstanding location at the heart of one of the most dynamic metropolises in the
world: In addition to the German headquarters of global groups or capital city representations of
renowned companies, these may include offices of international lawyers’ firms, corporate
consulters or auditors who value the central location, good accessibility, prestigious
architecture, outstanding infrastructure and proximity to the government quarter and the
Tiergarten quarter.
Due to its wonderful location at the heart of the Potsdamer Platz, the building is to be made
more accessible to the public in future as well, to literally “return” it to Berlin and its citizens. For
example, plans include establishment of an outlook platform with gastronomy offer and
spectacular panorama view of the German capital. The property is to be more intensely used for
events in future as well. This year’s Bambi-awards, which Hubert Burda Media takes to the
Potsdamer Platz, will already use the atrium for the dinner party after the Bambi-awarding
ceremony.
Central areas of Daimler AG, such as group representation, Daimler Kunst Sammlung or Daimler
Real Estate, will remain at the Potsdamer Platz even after Daimler Financial Services moves. The
first new users of the object are to move in right after enhancements are completed in 2015.
Barbara A. Knoflach: “We are very optimistic to be able to welcome new high-quality tenants
soon due to our extraordinary combination of object quality and premium location. The present
demand for the unique areas reflects this as well.”
