“EPRA appoints Patrick Laureys as Director European Affairs”
The European Public Real Estate Association (EPRA) has appointed Patrick Laureys as Director of European Affairs, a newly created position that will promote the interests of the listed real estate sector at the EU and regulator levels.
Patrick Laureys joins EPRA from the Belgian Foreign Ministry’s Directorate-General for European Affairs and Coordination, where he was Deputy Director responsible for EU Energy, Telecommunications and Transport Affairs. Prior to this he held various diplomatic roles at Belgian embassies in Europe, Africa and Central America, where he specialised in economic and multi-lateral diplomatic contacts with the host nations and with UN organisations.
Patrick Laureys said: “A properly functioning listed real estate industry is a cornerstone of a healthy economy, and for the sector to function properly it needs to be open and transparent. I want to make sure that this message gets on to the European agenda so that the sector can thrive and take its rightful place in the EU’s economy.”
