Allianz Real Estate buys high rise Skyper in Frankfurt/Main
Allianz Real Estate has purchased the Skyper office complex at Taunusanlage 1 at the heart of Frankfurt’s banking district on behalf of various Allianz companies. It was sold by a fund advised by UBS for about €300 million. Skyper is the first skyscraper in Frankfurt in Allianz’s property portfolio.
“With the Skyper building we add another outstanding asset to the real estate portfolio of Allianz,” says Stefan Brendgen, CEO of Allianz Real Estate Germany. “This acquisition shows that we consequently follow our growth strategy.”
The complex with total floor space of some 54,100 square metres includes a 38-storey tower, a six-storey building of shops and offices, and the erstwhile Villa Holzmann. Retail and residential areas make up about 10pc of the property. Although the modern offices were built in 2005, Villa Holzmann dates back to 1913 and was extensively refurbished in 1994. A LEED gold certificate has been obtained.
The biggest tenants at Skyper are Deutsche Bundesbank, Deka Investmentfonds, financial services organization HSBC, and the international law firms Bird & Bird and Weil Gotshal & Manges.
Allianz was advised by CBRE and Berwin Leighton Paisner, the seller by Jones Lang LaSalle.
