Corio vince due “sustainability awards”

Corio received the award for most sustainable listed real estate fund in the Netherlands on
28 November 2012 from VDBO. The award is a recognition of Corio’s sustainability
performance in the VBDO/GRESB sustainable real estate benchmark 2012. In addition,
Corio also received the Green Brick Award (Groene Baksteen) on 18 September 2012 at the
Jones Lang Lasalle congress, which was granted for outstanding sustainability
performance.
Gerard Groener, CEO: “In today’s rapidly changing world, maintaining sustainable economic
results cannot be seen separately from showing consistent performance in social and
environmental matters. We do not operate in isolation. Our business needs to reinvent itself, to
innovate, in order to stay relevant socially and economically. The business case for our CSR
approach is clear and persuasive. It helps us to connect with consumers and to understand and
respond to their demands. This gives us the possibility to sustain high occupancy levels and
increase footfall. A robust approach towards environmental footprint reduction makes our
operations more cost effective, prepares us for future legislative challenges and paves the way to
innovative approaches in terms of sustainable design and new collaborative models.”
The Green Brick is based on the performance in the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark
(GRESB) 2012. Corio moved from the section “Green Talk” to the section “Green Star” in the
GRESB 2012 based on the strong improvement in execution of its sustainability strategy and the
commitment of senior management. Corio was also acknowledged for its integral and unique
approach to social performance and community relations.
In addition, Corio’s inclusion in several leading benchmarks has recently been renewed. Corio is
included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index 2012 Europe andWorld edition and is therefore
part of the top 15% most sustainable real estate companies globally.

The Dutch Association of Investors for Sustainable Development (VBDO)
VBDO is the only Dutch association of investors which explicitly focuses on a sustainable
society. In VBDO’s articles of associations it says that the aim is ‘to promote the interests of
corporate and private investors who want to contribute to sustainability’. In practice, this means
that VBDO anticipates in public debates on sustainability. As VBDO represents mainly
investors, it conducts engagement with listed companies and corporate investors such as pension
funds. With nearly 600 members, VBDO has become a powerful member of debates.
