Himmel, Co-Managing Partner of Gulf Related, President and CEO of Related Urban, said: “The Galleria represents a unique combination of world-class architecture, interior design and superior finishes that perfectly complement this unprecedented collection of luxury retailers. The result is a shopping and dining destination like no other in the Middle East. We are particularly delighted to add this outstanding project to our portfolio of internationally celebrated developments, and are confident of its long lasting positive impact on Abu Dhabi’s retail landscape – benefiting both community and visitors alike. We look forward to building on the success of The Galleria with Sowwah Central which will open in 2017. When combined it will offer over 500 retail, leisure, dining and entertainment options”. “The opening of The Galleria marks a key milestone in the expansion of both Gulf Capital and Gulf Related,” said Dr. Karim El Solh, CEO of Gulf Capital and Co-Managing Partner of Gulf Related. “As it raises the bar for destination dining and luxury shopping in Abu Dhabi, The Galleria is a major step in delivering Sowwah Square’s unparalleled impact on business and leisure in the capital, and paves the way for an ambitious portfolio of upcoming projects.” Attracting the finest luxury brands in the world, ‘The Galleria’ presents the latest collections from top fashion retailers including Louis Vuitton, Prada, Dior, Fendi, Burberry, Balenciaga, Miu Miu and Ralph Lauren. Of the 130 new stores and restaurants opening at The Galleria, 50 brands are “firsts” for Abu Dhabi.– a record percentage for any project in the world. Marking first entries to the market, the development has attracted a string of exceptional brands including Jimmy Choo, Berluti, Boucheron, Longchamp, Thomas Pink, Mulberry, Diane von Furstenberg, Moschino and Zuma . ‘The Galleria’ also offers a range of different food experiences from casual dining in the Café Terraces to culinary restaurant destinations including Almaz by Momo, and Emporio Armani Caffé – all of which offer breath-taking views of Abu Dhabi’s skyline. Food and beverage outlets Lemongrass, BurgerFuel, Café Bateel, Caffé Nero and Magnolia Bakery are already open, while additional gourmet food outlets will open over the course of the next six months including Zuma, Biryani Pot, Bentley Bistro&Bar, Carluccio’s, Nolu’s Downtown, and Taqado. In total, ‘The Galleria’ will have a full complement of 25 cafes and restaurants all located in Abu Dhabi’s new CBD. ‘The Galleria’ is one of the first pieces in Gulf Related’s major 13 ha retail-led, mixed-use development project named Sowwah Square, due for completion in Autumn/Q3 2017. Next to be delivered is a super-regional shopping mall called Sowwah Central which, together with The Galleria, will mean an extraordinary 214,000 sqm (2.3million sq.ft) of retail and leisure space – larger than any urban shopping centre in Europe, supported further by adjoining luxury hotels, residential and office towers. Leasing has commenced on the Sowwah Central development, with Gulf Related being represented by Marvin Traube Associates.
