Belmond has acquired the prestigious Castello di Casole in Italy from the German Erste Abwicklungsanstalt (EAA). The purchase price, including transaction costs, is approximately 39 million euros. Colliers International has accompanied and structured the transaction.
For five consecutive years Castello di Casole has been voted as the best resort in Europe by Time Magazine and Travel + Leisure Magazine. Located in the Tuscan hills, near Florence and Siena, the resort has been in existence since the 10th century. The luxury hotel has 39 rooms and is set between 1500 hectares of farmland, vineyards and olive groves.
Colliers International’s Dutch hotel team led by Dirk Bakker (Head of EMEA Hotels) adds: ”Belmond is a leading hotel operator in the luxury segment and the perfect fit for Castello di Casole. I am proud that our hotel team brought these two parties together. Under Belmond’s leadership the resort can further strengthen its number 1 position and continue to offer excellent service to its guests.”
